Vidya Vanam Senior Secondary School

Nurturing children with native intelligence to become leaders and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

A Brief Introduction

Vidya Vanam began in 2007 with the aim of catering to the needs of the tribal and underprivileged children in and around Anaikatti, a village in the foothills of the Nilgiris, near Coimbatore. The school seeks to nurture these children by encouraging their traditional knowledge base and providing platforms for exposure to mould them into the leaders and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Each child at Vidya Vanam is empowered to form opinions and articulate them, creating a generation that is are unafraid to chase their dreams.

A unit of the Bhuvana Foundation, Vidya Vanam began with 40 children and four teachers. Today, there are close to 300 students and the staff includes 30 full-time teachers and 20 non-teaching staff. The majority of the students are first-generation learners from the villages around Anaikatti.

The school is housed in an aesthetic and eco-friendly campus that provides all the facilities required for a conducive learning environment: classrooms, two playgrounds, laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, computers, and maths, an audio-visual room, a music room, an art and craft room among others.
